Underpinning
"Foundation Underpinning UK Contractor Services"
Belowground Limited offer a variety of underpinning techniques for subsidence and ground level reduction. Our expertise and engineering capabilities enable us to offer you the most economic and appropriate underpinning solution for your underpinning project whether it large or small.
We carry out underpinning works for many major insurances companies and Local Authorities and can offer our underpinning works with a 12 year insurance backed guarantee.
Our Underpinning techniques are as follows;
Traditional Mass Pour Underpinning
The traditional method of underpinning is where the affected structure has sections excavated in a “hit and miss” sequence to a pre determined depth below the existing foundation.
This is then inspected by local building control and each excavated pit is then backfilled with concrete. This method is then repeated until all of the affected area has been underpinned.

Underpinning with Screw Piles and Brackets
Screw piles offer an effective solution for many underpinning contracts where either traditional underpinning is impractical due to excessive excavation depths or the use of a piling rig may be unsuitable. They can be installed in restricted access situations with a two man crew by hand or on the arm of a mini excavator.
It is possible to install up to 25 screw piles in a day reducing labour costs significantly from conventional underpinning methods and as Screw piles produce virtually no spoil there are only minimal muck away costs.
Screw piles work both in tension and compression making them ideal for underpinning work where they are used in conjunction with an underpinning support bracket.

Pile and Beam Underpinning
This system of underpinning can be used with our mini piling options. Mini-piles are installed to either side of the affected wall, a pocket of brickwork is then removed below ground level then a pre fabricated steel cage is installed to span over the two piles. This is then inspected by local building control and then concreted. This method can also be used in conjunction with Helibeam masonry reinforcement.

Cantilever Pile and Beam Underpinning
The method of installation is as per the pile and beam listed above, however by using the piles in compression and tension all of the works are carried out from the outside the property thus saving considerable costs in the removal of internal floors and fixtures. This method can be used with screw piles as well as conventional piles and in conjunction with Helibeam masonry reinforcement.

Piled Raft Underpinning
This system of underpinning is used when it has been decided that the whole property has been affected. All existing floors are removed and mini-piles constructed. Pockets of brickwork are then removed and reinforcement placed as per the engineer’s specification. This is then inspected by the local building control and then concreted.
